Lunch @ Saamy's Restaurant

Saamy's Restaurant is a well known Indian banana leaf restaurant in Chemor. The restaurant is so famous until people from Penang and KL just drive to Chemor for 2 to 3 hours to have lunch/dinner and come back. I am not that crazy to do that, so, usually I stop by there when I drive to KL. Check out their Facebook profile here . Here are the snaps taken from my recent trip to the restaurant.

Checkout their banana leaf...it's huge!! and I noticed that they serve almost the same size of the leaf to everyone.

It was crowded and we had to wait for our food for some time.

This is their new wing of the restaurant. The old wing is still there, but it's still in 'old shape'. So when you step inside to this new wing, you will be surprised. Just one thing..see how many fans they put up there? LOL

Me & Malar

Turkey Curry . All their foods cooked inside clay-pot.

Kampung Chicken Curry ( Not sure what ayam kampung is called in English , ehhe). These two items are the best I have tasted over there :D

Recap :- Seafood dinner @ Batu Kawan

One of the best place to have seafood in Penang is in Batu Kawan. There are a lot of choices, but I would recommend everyone to go this restaurant called Prawn Village or it's better known as Floating Seafood Restaurant. Why, this one is the best? Keep on reading.

Malar & Me

My Family

The ladies :D

Oyester. It was one of the most fresh and cheapest , I have ever had. I bought this for RM 3. It's a must try .

Honey Chicken

These crabs were spicy and the sambal was sooo good. You can't eat it without lemon ice ( limau ais).

You need these to crack the crabs. If you love you teeth, use this

Tom Yam Fish Curry

This Satay is one the best I have ever had. The satay will be served without the 'kuah' and you can just eat it without the 'kuah'.

Fried Ice Cream.

You can make your own selection.

With all the items above with vegetables, it cost us RM 120++. I will let you to decide if it's worth eating there.

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Last weekend, my gf did a cake for me. The cake is called Chocolate Fudge Cake with white chocolate icing. It was soooooooo good!! I would like to share with you all on how to do this cake :D

Ingredients

For the cake :

400g plain flour

250g golden caster sugar

100g light muscovado sugar

50g best quality cocoa powder

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 eggs

142ml/small tub sour cream

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

175g unsalted butter, melted and cooled

125ml corn oil

300ml chilled water

For the fudge icing

200g white chocolate

250ml whipped cream

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Serving Size : Serves 10. Or 1 with a broken heart.

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/gas mark 4.

2. Butter and line the bottom of two 20cm sandwich tins.

3. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugars, cocoa, baking powder, bicarb and salt. In another bowl or wide-necked measuring jug whisk together the eggs, sour cream and vanilla until blended. Using a freestanding or handheld electric mixer, beat together the melted butter and corn oil until just blended (you’ll need another large bowl for this if using the hand whisk; the freestanding mixer comes with its own bowl), then beat in the water. Add the dry ingredients all at once and mix together on a slow speed. Add the egg mixture, and mix again until everything is blended and then pour into the prepared tins. And actually, you could easily do this manually; I just like my toys and find the KitchenAid a comforting presence in itself.

4. Bake the cakes for 50–55 minutes, or until a cake-tester comes out clean. Cool the cakes in their tins on a wire rack for 15 minutes, and then turn the cakes out onto the rack to cool completely.

5. To make the icing, melt the chocolate in the microwave – 2–3 minutes on medium should do it – or in a bowl sitting over a pan of simmering water, and let cool slightly.

6. In another bowl beat the butter until it’s soft and creamy (again, I use the KitchenAid here) and then add the sieved icing sugar and beat again until everything’s light and fluffy. I know sieving is a pain, the one job in the kitchen I really hate, but you have to do it or the icing will be unsoothingly lumpy. Then gently add the vanilla and chocolate and mix together until everything is glossy and smooth.

7. Sandwich the middle of the cake with about a quarter of the icing, and then ice the top and sides too, spreading and smoothing with a rubber spatula.

Special thanks to Malar,,thanks kutty!!!
